ClixSense Review 2017 – Is it legit or another scam?

What is ClixSense?

ClixSense is one of the most frequently recommended PPC, task, and survey sites for making money online. If you’ve ever looked around for ways to make money online, you’ve definitely come across a ClixSense recommendation.

But, simply because people recommend it doesn’t mean it’s legit. Exactly what is the ClixSense fuss all about? In this review we’ll go into detail about ClixSense, and you can decide if it’s right for you.

Is it free to join?

Yes. ClixSense is free to join, although they also offer a premium plan to increase your pay rates. However, upgrading to premium is not mandatory, and you may continue to use the free version as long as you want to use it.

Is it a legit company?

2007Yes. ClixSense is one of the oldest PTC websites on the web.

It’s been around and paying out members since February 2007. So, in short, the answer is no: ClixSense is not a scam.

How do you make money with ClixSense?

Get paid to view ads. It’s that simple.

You get paid anywhere in the range of $0.001 to $0.02 for viewing an ad for a specified period of time. Click the link, watch the ad, get paid instantly.

There is a timer at the top of the ad, and you will always need to click on a picture of a cat (among four other pictures of dogs) to verify you are human. This is to protect the site from bots and spammers, understandably, so they can keep paying actual humans.

Once you click on the cat picture, a countdown timer will start at the top. Duration of the timer will depend on the type of ad. During this period, you need to keep your browser in front – you can’t just switch tabs and read something else. Doing so will pause the timer.

After viewing the advertisement for required time (anywhere from 3 seconds to a minute, usually) a message will come up saying that your view was validated.

You then close the tab and open another advertisement, and make more money.

Who Can Use ClixSense?

Usually these kind of PTC websites only allow members from the US and UK, but not this one! ClixSense accepts members from all over the world. This is pretty incredible: any person from any country can join and make money at ClixSense.

One detail worth noting: the payout scale is different depending on where you live.

The Tier 1 countries that pay the highest are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States.

ClixSense is good for anyone looking to make money online, including students looking out for pocket money, housewives and other people who want to monetize time in front of the computer, and anyone looking to make a few dollars on the side.

What are the best things about Clixsense?

Getting paid to view ads

It’s so easy.

giant pile of changeIn reality, we all view ads CONSTANTLY. Every day. And whenever we do that, we’re making money for other people. It’s nice to have the tables turned in this instance.

Over time the clicks do add up – it’s an easy way to make some extra money in your spare time. You really can’t argue with having another source of income, not matter how small it might seem at first. Pennies add up to dollars.

You can get paid to complete surveys from a variety of sources. ClixSense will tell you how much you get paid, and how long it will take, and you get credited immediately. It’s usually anywhere from $1-$4 per survey, with lengthier surveys paying more. Devoted survey takers can make $12-$14/hour daily.

computer workerUnlike many PTC sites, ClixSense also offers paid tasks to users, similar to Amazon’s Mechanical Turk.

What is a task? A task or job is a set of instructions that you follow, and get paid for it. Example tasks include categorizing images or videos, making google searches – simple stuff.

Most tasks can be completed an unlimited times, but others may be limited to a certain number of completes. They change every day, and the amount you are paid varies wildly.

Some tasks require more skill and you will need to train before you can actually complete them.

It’s amazing how many ways you can turn wasted time into a paycheck, isn’t it?

ClixSense offers members a free daily game, where you have 30 chances to win up to $10 each time. The game includes a board of winners to the right, and you can see that users are winning every couple of minutes.

Does ClixSense have a referral program?

Yes. And it’s a great one. They pay you out a percentage of basically whatever the people you refer to them do on the site. Some people make extraordinary amounts of money JUST by referring ClixSense.

Here’s what Clixsense says about their referral program:

If you join ClixSense, it makes sense to get your friends and family on board so you all can make free money together. If you’re a blogger or starting a blog, referring your readers to ClixSense is indispensable. Pay it forward!

How does ClixSense pay?

No gift card nonsense here – Clixsense gives you cash money.

check from clixsenseClixsense mails out paper checks to their members once a month, on or before the 10th of the month. The check minimum payout amount is $10, which is very reasonable for a PTC site. (Most others, which are far more scammy, require up to $50 as a minimum payout, yikes!)

Clixsense also pays members through electronic methods everyday. They use these electronic payment providers: Paytoo, Payza, Tango Card, Payoneer. These methods are similar to Paypal, and free and easy to set up.

You can cash out from ClixSense when your balance hits $8 for a free membership, and $6 for a premium membership. The low minimum payout balance, and the option for both a check and electronic payment, are part of why ClixSense is so popular.

Overall: Legit

ClixSense is a great choice for people looking for areal, established and time-tested PTC, survey, and task site. You may as well turn the time you spend bumming around online into some pocket change. And, best of all, you can join ClixSense from anywhere in the world.

  1. Hey Steph,
Nice review of Clixsense and it kinda appeals in a way because it doesn’t just offer one way to make money. Most of the PTC programs that I have seen are a bit limited. I think it’s totally unfair that they have a pay scale though, depending on which country you are in. I’m in Malaysia but I’m from the UK – does this mean my pay rates would be lower? Just curious, but I suppose I could use a VPN so that I appear to be in the UK or US? I mean, how would they know? It’s pretty clever that you can’t just switch tabs, I’m not sure how they do that but it’s impressive.

    1. Hi Craig, thanks for reading, and for the comment! ClixSense and pretty much all sites like this block all VPNs, otherwise, everyone would live in a Tier 1 country. 🙂 And I agree, their software is smart. I don’t completely understand the reasoning for the Tier system, but I’m sure it relates to the fees they can recoup from advertisers as well as the strength of the relative economies. Malaysia isn’t on the Tier 1 list, although it is quite popular in Malaysia and possible to make money using it in Malaysia.

      1. Thanks Steph, I am a bit disappointed that they block VPNs and a bit curious how they do it. Anyway, I really love it how they allow all countries to benefit from it. My wife has some spare time on her hands during the day so maybe she would be interested in this.

  2. Hi Steph, thank you for sharing and doing this review. I haven’t ventured on PTC websites but you got me thinking on this one. I will definitely try this one out and see if it will be a good supplement. My quick question though is it really that simple? You just view an ad, spend your time, and be paid? What does the company get out of us viewing an ad? I understand the Surveys and Tasks because they are utilized for a purpose. Hope you can share your thoughts and enlighten a PTC Newbie like me =) Thanks.

    1. The companies get exposure to an audience who is likely to be interested in what they are selling or doing. Many of the sites advertising on ClixSense are targeted toward people interested in making money working online. It’s work checking out, for sure, as a way to monetize spare time we’d be spending online anyway!

  3. Oh wow an alternative to Google adsense. Sounds great.

I will follow throught with this for my own sites.

    Thanks for the post.

  4. Clixsense is not a scam alright. But I’ve stopped checking into it since months ago. You will spend endless hours clicking on advertisement or play games that pays so little. It’s such a waste of time when you can’t even make enough for your meal. I’d rather spend time freelancing or building my own online marketing business.

    1. Thanks for the feedback, Kenny. I agree with you that for people looking to make significant funds, building an online business is the way to go. For others (esp in Tier 1 countries) who have time to kill, it can be decent pocket change. And for some bloggers, it can be a path to massive funding.

  5. I have some time to kill right now and this sounds like something worth checking out.
I’m from Kenya, so I shouldn’t have any trouble with it right? Since you said it’s available in every country?

    Thanks for this. Really.

  6. I have never heard of this one but your review certainly makes it believable and being a WAer, I wholeheartedly believe you.

Just looking at ads, huh? Well making quick easy money is certainly suitable for a certain group of people. I will certainly recommend for ones who I think will benefit from the service.

    1. Thanks for the comment, Brent, and thanks for referring to your friends! Out of sites like this (and there are a lot) ClixSense has the advantage of being established online for over 10 years, and many people use it as one source of side income.

  7. Hi Steph,
Great info about Clixsense. I come to know many things about it and you clear my doubt about PTC sites. I know some of my friend make some pocket money by clicking and viewing ads, but I never tried it before. I thought PTC sites and survey are just a waste of time. Now, I get so excited and want to try them out.
I would like to know what is the different between the free and premium membership and the price for premium upgrade.

    1. Thanks for the comment and the question, Maun! There are a few key differences to the free and premium membership – if you go here, you may read more about them in detail. The premium membership is $17/year.

  8. Hi Penny. I really appreciate this post. I have started on work from home programs and most that I found are a scam. I love that you researched ClixSense and came up with WHY they are legit. The different ways to make money is important to me. I AM not a survey person. I will be checking out the site. Thank you for this information.

    1. Thanks for the comment, Reggie! I’m definitely also not a survey person, but I can click on paid email and paid ads until the cows come home. It’s good that there are sites that indulge this, and it’s great that we can monetize our spare time.

  9. Hey man I just wanna say I really like the way you broke down clixsense in a way that’s easy to understand. I never realized how many different ways there are to earn income with this program.
I always though it was only viewing ads but tasks like google searches or leaving comments sounds like a great idea during your spare time! Nice Review

    1. Glad you enjoyed this review, and I agree that it’s exciting that there are so many ways to make money for free online!

  10. Thanks for the review. I used to think these kinds of sites were scams. But I’m wondering, would this site be enough to make a full time living online?

    1. Not really. It depends on where you live, of course, and what the exchange rate is, but I don’t think this is a powerful enough revenue source to have it as a full-time gig. thanks for the question!

  11. I have used it before and it is indeed for those who want some pocket money. I left it later one because my objective was not to earn pocket money but something more. Your review is spot on and I wish I would found it back then when I started using it. It would have saved me some time.
